Road trips across India — Mumbai to Goa, Delhi to Manali, Bangalore to Mysore — need a realistic fuel budget. Petrol and diesel prices differ by state; car mileage differs highway vs city.
Fuel cost formula
Total fuel cost = (Distance ÷ Mileage) × Fuel price per litre
Example
- Distance: 600 km round trip
- Car mileage: 15 km/l
- Petrol: ₹100/l
- Fuel needed: 40 litres → ₹4,000
Planning tips
- Add 10% buffer for AC, hills and traffic
- Compare toll + fuel vs train/flight for family trips
- Track real mileage with Mileage Calculator after trip

Electric cars use kWh per km — enter electricity rate if comparing EV trip cost.
